"I am a calm, laid-back guy who likes to engage with people when I want to. I do enjoy being around people, but sometimes I like to take a little break and do some meditating of my own. You never know, though. When I find my exact right person or family, I may be all about them all the time!"
Info from staff: Buddy doesn't seem to care one way or the other when it comes to dogs and for the most part just ignores them. Even if you walk him past another dog that's snarling at him, he won't pay them any attention and will walk by as if they're not even there. Buddy is a definite "no" for cats.

"I am a good dog who is waiting for a family to love me forever. I may be a little choosy about my dog friends, am open to meeting and making new friends."
Info from staff: Hildegard is VERY smart, affectionate girl, wants to please. She was adopted from CDHS a few years ago and lived in her home for several years. She was returned because she was not getting along with the small dog in the home. She does get along well with larger dogs, but no small dogs or cats. She did go through a few different training courses with her previous family. It's easy to tell within just a short time of meeting her that someone has definitely worked with her. "I am a good boy who just wants a place to relax and chill out in my retirement. Resting and relaxing are my favorite activities."
Info from staff: Kobalt originally came to CDHS about a decade ago, with a large neck wound. We nursed him back to health and he was adopted. His person is no longer in a place where they can care for him, and he was found running in Bismarck. He was returned to us, and we need to find him a soft place to land in his elder years. Please come out and visit me - don't forget the treats!"
Merle takes some time to warm up to new people and can be nervous. He doesn't always like to go for a walk, but he does love to sit down and relax in the grass and be petted. With a little patience, Merle's sweet old soul will win you over.

Oh boy. Where do we even begin?
Are you dreaming of a peaceful, low-maintenance dog who naps politely in sunbeams and gently places his head in your lap while soft music plays in the background? Fantastic. You should keep dreaming-and also keep scrolling. Because this is Saba, and he is none of those things.
But hey, if you're the type of person who wakes up and chooses chaos, we may have just found your soulmate.
Saba's Resume of Absolute Mayhem:
• Specializes in knocking people over mid-zoomie like a furry linebacker
• Has absolutely zero spatial awareness and takes it personally if you expect otherwise
• Can and will leap over fences that violate building height codes
• Thinks "muzzle punch" is a perfectly acceptable way to say hi
• Treats toys like they're part of a demolition derby
Found as a stray (shocking, we know), Saba arrived with all the manners of a wet tornado. He's been in the shelter long enough to discover that walls are boring, and rules are optional. But put him in a play yard? Oh, he comes alive. Like, frantic, turbo-charged, cartoon-character-chasing-a-scent alive.
Things Saba Thinks He's Good At (debatable):
• Fetch (he gets the ball. Sometimes. Then forgets why.)
• Sniffing stuff for an eternity like a crime scene investigator
• Full-body flopping into grass because it smells "funny"
• Making you reconsider your life choices mid-walk
• Being "sweet," if your definition includes accidentally concussing you with his skull
Stuff That Makes Him Tolerable (occasionally even lovable):
• He genuinely loves people. He just has no idea how to interact like a normal dog.
• He has a soft spot for puppies and plays gently with them-because apparently, he has standards.
• On rare occasions, he'll stop mid-walk, lean against you, and pretend to be calm. It lasts four seconds but it's magical.
• He loves being sung to. (We don't understand this either.)
Important Fine Print:
• Requires a fence high enough to keep out aircraft
• Not ideal for households with breakable objects, delicate furniture, or a fear of being tackled by love
• Would thrive with older kids who can take a hit and bounce back
• Dog-friendly, but his play style is "full-contact rugby"
• Cat situation: unknown. Honestly, the cat might adopt you to escape him
The staff says:
"Saba is an unfiltered mess of joy, chaos, and potential. He's not for the faint of heart-but for the right person, he'll be the most ridiculous, lovable, high-energy disaster you'll ever meet."
So. Do you crave adventure? Do you enjoy yelling "what are you doing?!" fifteen times a day? Are you in peak physical condition, mentally stable, and emotionally prepared for a dog that lives like he's been shot out of a cannon?
Perfect. Come meet Saba. We don't know why you would. But also... we kind of hope you do. Saba isn't perfect, but he is perfect for someone. Could that someone be you?
Available now at the shelter-bring treats, running shoes, and maybe a helmet.
Saba's adoption fee is $250 plus tax. The adoption fee includes:
- Veterinary Exam
- Vaccinations (Distemper and Rabies)
- Neuter
- Microchip

"I am very happy and a good girl who loves people. I thought I heard someone say I am built like the brick Schmidt's house. I don't know what that means, but I think it means I am short and stocky and strong. I love to work on my zoomies. I'm sure I could win the zoomies Olympics. Come to see me. We will work on our laughing and smiling together."
Savanna is the sweetest girl. She loves her toys like nothing else in the world and wants to be the only one who can have toys. She does guard her toys and the toys of other dogs and will actively take them away from other dogs. Savanna will need a fenced yard in her home.

Info from staff: Steven is a good boy who likes to play and be loved. He can be a bit stubborn when it is time to come in so he may need some training work. He does love to be with people and is sad when you are not with him. We've just discovered that he can climb his kennel fence so he will need to be in a yard or walked on a leash where he can be monitored until he is comfortable and stable in your home. "I am a good boy who loves to go for walks and likes to hang out. I heard someone say it is Dog Adoption Season and I am all about that. Please come out to visit me!"
Soy el mejor chico y he estado esperando demasiado tiempo por mi hogar para sempre.
Translation: I am the best boy, and I have been waiting too long for my forever home.
Yes, you read that correctly - Tyson (also known as Ty, Ty Ty, or Tyraneous Rex) understands Spanish! An owner-surrender from a Spanish-speaking home, staff and volunteers originally learned a few phrases so he would feel comfortable. Tyson's favorite pastime is to sit in a chair, on a bench, couch or stool, next to his people and snuggle. All of his outings include at least a few minutes on a bench or chair. His second favorite pastime is going on walks and getting big sniffs. Tyson has a reputation for pulling hard on the leash, or to say it another way, Tyson pulls like a mother on the leash. But this is 100% kennel behavior. Volunteers and staff can attest that once he is away from the general kennel areas, he is great on the leash. He is also a good running partner on the leash. He comes when called and knows the commands "sit" and "shake" (In English). He takes great selfies and loves posing for pictures, and he does great in the car. And he is scared of cats, which is better than the alternative. If you are looking for a dog who is equally happy being active and being a total lounge buddy, Tyson is your match!
From the staff: Tyson gets frequent ear and skin allergies for which he is being treated. He is on a "no-treat" diet of kibble, which is just fine for him. Tyson enjoys meeting new people, but he needs a chance to warm up to you before you go to touch his ears. Those are his boundaries. Tyson is a well-tempered fellow who enjoys interacting with most other dogs and he especially enjoys getting to play along the fence line of the play yards. He is extremely smart and loving, and it kind of breaks our hearts when he sees so many other dogs get visits when he doesn't.
Tyson's adoption fee is $250 plus tax. The adoption fee includes:
- Veterinary Exam
- Vaccinations (Distemper and Rabies)
- Neuter
- Microchip
- Deworming
- Flea/Tick Treatment
- Bag of Science Diet Food
