If you are looking for a silly, awkward teenager who lacks social skills but has a heart of gold and a nose for the hunt, then Saba is your guy!

Found as a stray, Saba is still trying to acclimate to life in a shelter, where being kenneled for such a long period of time is really cramping his style. Once he is out in the play yards you will find him running, jumping, and playing with such gusto, it almost breaks your heart to bring him back in. When the volunteers get him to the play yard, he will play with every single toy he can lay his paws on, and he has even been known to fetch a ball or two! Sure, he might accidentally knock into you while he's zooming around, or muzzle punch you in the face in a clumsy attempt to greet you hello, so make sure to keep the youngsters and those unsteady on their feet well out of his way!

But once he's focused on a scent on a walk in the tall grasses or neighboring fields, you will see that his nose truly shines. He will scent happily for a long time if you let him! And if he finds something especially good, he will flop down on his back to relish the scent with a full body wiggle, which is quite the sight to see! On rare moments during his walk, he will stop and lean his body into you while he takes in the scenery, which some people find to be one of the most therapeutic forms of deep pressure you can find. Not a bad way to take a break when you're out for a hike.

Have you ever wanted your very own hippopotamus? Well here at CDHS we happen to have one who enjoys long walks, road trips, and snuggling after a long day - and her name is Savy!

Nobody will ever mistake Savy for a delicate wallflower. She is a super confident, social girl who wants everyone she meets, human or canine, to stop and pay attention to her! Seriously. Don't even try to ignore her! Luckily for her, our staff and volunteers at CDHS are happy to oblige.

Yeah, she may be a teensy bit spoiled. Her kennel, complete with all the toys imaginable, giant stuffies and piles of cozy blankets, gives her away. But we just can't help ourselves. She literally stole our hearts when she arrived as an owner surrender with trauma to her front paw, causing her to lose those toes and taking well over a year to recuperate. We promise you will not meet a more patient girl when it comes to getting dressed in her Sunday sock and special booty, the deal we struck when we had to convince her that we needed to protect the delicate skin on her injured paw. And given the number of hours our staff has spent treating and tending to her injury we're not surprised she has become a staff favorite.

We know if you get to know Savy, you too will fall immediately in love with this exuberant spirit who wears her heart on her sleeve. Not to mention she does this adorable wiggly worm dance, belly-up on the floor when she is especially happy! And what makes her happy? Well, all the love and attention from her humans, of course. Quite literally, all she wants is love! Ok, and food. She also wants food. Plenty of food. Did we mention she likes food?
